چکیده مقاله:
Abstract Background: Human infestation to ectoparasites such as ticks, lice, cimex, fleas, mites and others agents may result in intensive allergic reaction with symptoms of itching, skin infection and severe irritation. In this case report, we present a case of dermatitis caused by cat flea. Case presentation: A three-member family referred to dermatology clinic in Babol due to dermal complications. They complained of irritation and the unrest caused by intense itching. Samples of tiny live insects were detected from their clothing which was recognized as C. felis (cat flea). Conclusion: This report highlights the importance of ectoparasites causing dermatitis.

Susceptibility of the Cat Flea, Ctenocephalides Felis
The amounts of active ingredient required to kill adult Ctenocephalides felis fleas on filter insecticide impregnated papers were determined in an attempt to compare the activity of different active ingredients. The following compounds were tested: bioallethrin, deltamethrin, esbiothrin and permethrin. The LD50 and LD90 against Ctenocephalides lelis were 121 and 770 mg/m 2 respectively for bioa...
متن کاملVertical transmission of Rickettsia felis in the cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis Bouché).
Rickettsia felis can be maintained in cat fleas by vertical transmission for up to 12 generations without the benefit of an infected host. Horizontal transmission or the acquisition of R. felis by fleas feeding on cats or artificially infected meals were not demonstrated in this study. Horizontal transmission of R. felis by the ingestion of feces or eggs by flea larvae was not detected. We also...

The present study evaluated the rickettsial infection in a laboratory colony of cat fleas, Ctenocephalides felis felis (Bouche) in Brazil. All flea samples (30 eggs, 30 larvae, 30 cocoons, 30 males, and 30 females) tested by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were shown to contain rickettsial DNA. PCR products, corresponding to the rickettsial gltA, htrA, ompA and ompB gene partial sequences were ...

Infection of cat flea, Ctenocephalides felis, larvae by the entomophilic nematode Neoaplectana carpocapsae was accomplished in the laboratory. The Breton strain of N. carpocapsae provided higher larval mortality at lower dosages than did the DD-136 strain. Adult nematodes were evident in the insect hemocoel after 48 h; however, no infective third-stage larvae were produced. Larval flea infectio...
